We are looking for a qualified Property Facultative Underwriter for Munich Re Korea Branch. Reporting to the Head of Facultative Korea, you will underwrite facultative Fire and/or Engineering business of every sort, steering business initiatives and managing existing clients, developing new clients effectively, along with analyzing and exploring new market potential.
Your Role
Underwrite facultative Fire and/or Engineering business of every sort including technical risk assessment.
Risk / PML assessment and pricing
Risk inspection / loss prevention recommendations
Write inspection reports for internal and / or external distribution
Actively build, maintain and expand business relationships; generating new businesses through direct contacts; and negotiating with brokers and cedents, including regular site surveys to the client.
Develop new client relationships and strengthen existing ones to achieve expected growth and profit contribution.
Provide clients in close consultation with Centre of Competency in MRM with best services to maximize business opportunities, e.g. via workshops, presentation.
Instigate and support new product innovation and enhancement both at MR Korea and with the client base.
Comply with corporate underwriting guidelines, internal working processes and auxiliary systems.
Collaborate across the teams in other offices in the region (Asia Pacific Africa) and with head office in Munich.
Act as a consultant and service provider to treaty unit and Client Management unit.
Contribute to the development and implementation of section goals and strategies.
Proactively partner with internal service providers to maximize efficiency, corporate knowledge, and client service.
Your Profile
Minimum five years of working experience in primary insurance or facultative reinsurance, including minimum three years of professional underwriting experience or risk on-site survey practice.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or scientific related subject.
Sound knowledge of Property underwriting including risk assessment, pricing, wordings and claim handling.
Knowledge of loss control engineering to evaluate exposure and risk quality.
A deal-making attitude, with a strong client focus and the ability to identify clients' needs and transform them into viable solutions.
Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to share knowledge to work in a dynamic, diverse and international environment.
Strong analytical thinking and excellent communication skills.
Solution-oriented with a focused, proactive, efficient and independent working style.
Results driven with good negotiation and execution skills.
Strong resilience to work under high pressure and ambitious growth strategy.
Excellent command of English, both in speaking and writing.
