The Role
Our Retirement team combines expertise in retirement and investment consulting to support global organizations worldwide in designing, managing, administering and communicating all types of retirement plans. Whether a client has a defined benefit pension or a defined contribution plan, we work with them to determine the right approach to design, funding, investing, governing and employee engagement that fits their specific goals.
In this exciting role as a Retirement Actuarial Consultant, you will have the opportunity to support diverse projects related to mergers & acquisitions, asset liability studies, forecasting, early retirement windows and other special projects as needed. You will also:
Project Management
- Draft Statements of Work : Create project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams.
- Project Lead : Serve as the day-to-day project lead, ensuring team progress against established objectives, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
- Technical Check : Perform technical checks on work products.
- Develop Tools and Approaches : Contribute to the development of new tools and methodologies.
- Meet Goals : Achieve revenue and billable hour goals as set by the manager.
Client Relations
- Primary Client Contact : Act as the primary daily contact for clients on service delivery.
- Trusted Advisor: Develop a trusted advisor relationship with clients through effective communication and efficient, quality project execution.
- Manage Expectations : Manage client expectations and escalate issues to Senior Consultants and Client Relationship Managers as appropriate.
- Inform Clients : Ensure clients are regularly informed about the implications and opportunities of changing laws and regulations related to their retirement plans.
Consulting Expertise
- Provide Consulting Expertise : Offer value-added consulting on retirement plan valuation, management and design, financial risk management, and funding projects. Handle special projects involving global consulting, strategic workforce planning, and total rewards strategies.
- Enhance Client Relationships : Develop new business opportunities and enhance existing client relationships.
- Apply Technical Expertise : Directly contribute to clients' success through your technical expertise.
- Support New Business Generation : Help generate new business as part of the broader team.
Team Collaboration and Mentoring
- Interface with Colleagues : Collaborate with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client's broader business issues.
- Build Internal Relationships : Collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Client/Colleague Interaction: Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Mentor : Serve as a mentor to project team associates.
The Requirements
Essential
- 5+ years of experience and success in the design/management of defined benefit plans, ideally gained in a consulting environment
- An undergraduate degree is required; Advanced degree preferred
- Has obtained at least one or more actuarial credentials (FAS, ASA, FIAK are preferred)
- Strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills
- An executive presence with polished and well developed oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Native Korean and advanced business level English
Desirable
- Experience and expertise in delivering retirement consulting services to Fortune 1,000 or similarly sized organizations
