United Nations Development Programme Internship

We are seeking an individual with strong analytical skills, detail-oriented and excellent communication skills. As part of our team you will be working on Governance and Gender programme activities. These may include conducting preliminary research and supporting the production of various documents related to governance and gender, with a particular focus on gender-based violence and access to justice;

The ideal candidate will have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent studies in Social sciences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools is also required, along with knowledge of Korean and other UN languages (particularly French or Spanish). Highly proficient in spoken and written English, as well as proven experience in editing/copyediting/proofreading documents, preferably on development policy, governance or similar would be highly desirable.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the Governance and Gender Programme activities.
  • Conducting preliminary research and producing various documents related to governance and gender.
  • Documenting, translating and packaging Korea's policy tools and lessons learned with an international perspective.
  • Proposing and designing creative communications materials on governance policy tools, programme results and lessons learned.
  • Designing, writing, editing and/or proofreading working documents, knowledge & communication products and correspondences.

This internship provides an opportunity for students to gain insight into the work of the United Nations and its Development Partnerships department. It also helps build networking skills, confidence and increases career opportunities.

Requirements

To qualify for this internship, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree; or
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree or PhD degree; or
  • Have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent studies.

You must have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent studies in Social sciences. IT skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools, ability to host Zoom and other web-based meetings and seminars, and graphic design skills are also required. Language skills such as highly proficient in both spoken and written English, knowledge of Korean and other UN languages (particularly French or Spanish) are necessary. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to edit/copyedit/proofread documents, preferably on development policy, governance or similar.

This internship does not pay a salary but it will provide a monthly stipend according to the provisions of the UNDP internship policy. You will need to arrange for your own transportation expenses to and from the duty station where the internship will take place. Additionally, interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and making their own travel arrangements.
