Hauptaufgaben

Serves as Public Affairs Specialist for the U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys (USAG-H) Public Affairs Office (PAO) with assigned responsibility for (1) Media Analysis, Media Operations, and Media Relations; (2) Reviewing and translating major ROK news media for information pertinent to the command; (3) Maintaining relationships with local Korean media and international media; (4) Engaging local and international media to ensure greater public understanding and awareness of USAG-H mission, its people, and its overall strategic value; (5) Support Command Information and Community Relations efforts and activities as needed. Reviews major ROK and international media for information pertinent to the command as political, social, economic, cultural, governmental, organizational and personal trends in Korea. Screens major Korean language daily and weekly newspapers and other publications to collect an extensive range of facts, news comments and other items of interest to the command; using judgement and initiative, selects such articles for cased on the propriety of content, quantity and quality, etc.; and rewrites or summarizes these items into English as completely as possible. Maintains continuous press liaison with ROK military and civilian information sources to obtain, confirm and verify information pertaining to particular incidents or events; corrects erroneous news reports and promotes goodwill and transparency between USAG-H and various publics. Responds to media queries promptly and accurately to the maximum extent allowable under security and policy and approval through the Public Affairs Officer. Reviews and edits all outgoing translations of bilingual press releases for Korean news agencies and press. Reviews and edits press releases of the command on all phases of news, events, personnel and organizational changes, policies, serious incidents and accidents, training exercises, congratulatory letters, press memos, comments and statements of key officials, etc. with responsibility for elimination of misunderstanding accuracy of content, etc. Promotes and publicizes USAG-H by actively engaging with television broadcasts and entertainment companies or wide-reaching social media influencers. Serves as a subject matter expert on working with Office of the Chief of Public Affairs-West (Entertainment) office on the process of Production Assistance Agreements, ensuring Camp Humphreys is accurately depicted in commercial television and film products. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

NOTE: 1. Relocation Allowance will be authorized for the selectee from outside the commuting area. 2. For Area II applicants: Selectee for this position may be eligible for relocation allowance if applicable and all requirements in paragraph 8-13 (Relocation Allowance) of USFK regulation 690-1 are met. Under the Yongsan Relocation Plan (YRP), individual moves of the selectee from Area II to other Areas will be authorized by the YRP moving services processes as stipulated in Civilian Human Resources Transformation Guidance.
