CooperVision Korea (CVK) is a well-established soft contact lens business with its national headquarters in Seoul, employing over 80 people, including a full field sales force.

As HR Manager for Korea , you will work with the APAC HR Leadership Team and key leaders in the Korea business to drive strategic initiatives to attract, retain and develop talent in Korea. 

You will drive and support the execution of talent initiatives for CVK, and key areas of focus for this role will include: recruitment, Employee Development Review (EDR), diversity and inclusion, change management; and leadership development. 

This role will act as a trusted advisor to the respective leaders by providing advice, guidance, and positive challenge to create the right culture for CVK’s continued growth. 

Responsibilities will include:

Working directly with the leaders of CVK business and the APAC HR team to co-design, develop and deliver the Human Resource strategy & initiatives; Managing and facilitating the Performance Management process; Leading and developing the Employee Engagement Survey and action planning on improving overall organization engagement; Running the core HR services such as compensation and benefits administration; and  Serving as a member of the CVI Korea Leadership Team.

Change Management

Utilize global change management framework and tools to facilitate change programs; Manage and support change programs on strategic programs where required; and Coach leadership and management on how to lead and direct change.

Performance Management

Act as the custodian for the performance management process and system in Korea; Align with global policy, processes and systems for performance management; Ensure compliance to performance management processes are followed; Analyze statistics on performance management; Provide guidance and assistance in setting KPI’s where required;  Train employees on our Annual Performance Enablement Process (PEP) process; and Experience in coordinating and handling Employee Relations (ER) issues.

Recruitment

Use appropriate resourcing strategies and tools to ensure the effective attraction of high quality candidates; Facilitate and own the interview process – Ensure a fair and transparent process is conducted; Work with external Recruitment Agencies to support the process; Build external Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to attract candidates (by increasing direct applications and reducing agency usage); and Leverage assessment tools when needed for the recruitment process.

Employee Development Review (EDR) / Talent Management

Train CVK Leadership Team and line managers in EDR Process; Strengthen the EDR process (before-during-and-after) in Korea;  Use the EDR Process to identify and manage critical and scarce skills and the quality of succession plan; Support the execution of development plans; Monitor, track and report on retention of key talent; and Explore strategies to develop & retain talent.

Organisational Climate

Facilitate processes to conduct annual engagement survey. Help, design and analyze survey results to create action plan for departments and Southeast Asia business. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the action plan initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits

Ensure a robust internal and external benchmarking processes is followed in all compensation and benefit related activities. Build local knowledge in the reward/benefit processes. Review and keep up to date with external trends to ensure CooperVision stays competitive in the market. Participate in the annual survey data collation for Global Total Rewards Team.

HR Operations

Introduce and where appropriate, adapt corporate HR policies and initiatives based upon best practice to ensure local effectiveness and legal compliance for Korea.  Partner with communications team on all employee related communication in Korea. Provide reporting on turnover, recruitment and Diversity Inclusion statistics for Quarterly Global reviews.

Wellness

Promote employee wellbeing (Wellness) so that employees remain productive and effective. Represent Southeast Asia and participate in the Global Wellness Program. Lead the local wellness team to create and implement Wellness Calendar. Manage the budget for the Wellness program.

Incorporate all elements of Social, Physical and Mental wellness in the program using internal and external resources.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential;  An international mindset – culturally aware, flexible and pragmatic; Strong Project Management experience; Creative, open minded, proactive, forward thinker; Demonstrable experience in the following areas: Resourcing Talent Management Performance Management Organization Development

Work Environment:

Experience:

Proven country HR leadership experience; Experience in working in a multi-cultural, international generalist HR role is desirable; Experience gained in a Global/US matrix managed businesses is highly desirable; Excellent spoken and written English Proficient in the use of HR systems  Demonstrated project management and Change management skills

Education:

A University degree and ideally with a Masters degree in a Business Management or related subject
