About the department
Novo Nordisk South Korea is a dynamic affiliate in a high growth phase, with a strong purpose to bring life-changing products to people living with Diabetes, Obesity and other serious chronic diseases. This position will report to the Legal & Compliance, Quality (LCQ) Director, who manages 9 direct reports in the LCQ department.
The position
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will utilize your expertise in legal and compliance regarding Novo Nordisk business and enable business leaders in Korea to achieve growth initiatives while securing the company from major legal, compliance, and reputational risks.
Your key tasks will include:
Reviewing and negotiating contracts, ensuring adherence to the Contract Management Procedure.Providing day-to-day legal and compliance advice to all business activities.Handling and preventing disputes and claims from competitors, customers, and business partners.Managing legal issues from government authorities (e.g., Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOWH), Prosecution investigation) and global alignment with HQ, International Organization (IO) and APAC.Managing issues regarding General Meeting of Shareholders and ensuring legal and compliance training are offered to all employees as well as managing and advising local law firms, including managing the legal costs. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience as qualified as a lawyer in Korea (with at least business-level proficiency in written and spoken English) or Qualified as a lawyer in an English-speaking jurisdiction (bilingual in English and Korean with a strong knowledge of Korean law) is required.A minimum of 5-9 years of experience in law, with at least 2 years preferred in the pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetics, or life sciences industry.Strong acknowledgement and expertise in regulations and laws, with extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical regulation and business transactions. In-depth knowledge of Korean commercial, anti-corruption, labor, competition, data privacy, pharmaceutical, and safety laws, as well as pharmaceutical compliance.A team player with strong social and communication skills, eager to interact with and recognize the needs of a diverse group of people spanning a broad range of business teams and executives, including regional and global stakeholders.
