Green Climate Fund Overview
The Green Climate Fund is the world's largest dedicated multilateral climate fund. It invests in impactful, innovative, and catalytic programs and projects in developing countries across the globe.
The GCF has a portfolio of 297 projects across 133 countries, with a focus on supporting countries in their responses and actions to tackle climate change while fostering sustainable development within their communities.
We operate with a diverse and talented workforce of over 300 people, headquartered in the Republic of Korea.
About the PositionThe Communications Specialist will be responsible for communicating the Fund's work by developing and producing key messages and communication products and undertaking media outreach to shape the Fund's public profile and contribute to advancing its external relations strategy.
This role requires a top-tier individual with a demonstrable track record of harnessing experience, energy, and networks to tackle complex global climate change challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the development and execution of the Fund's media strategy, representing the organization in media engagements and independently developing relationships with key media outlets at international, regional, and national levels to secure coverage of the organization's role within both beneficiary and contributor countries.
- Innovate, originate, develop, and produce content for communication products to raise the Fund's profile, enhance its brand, and inform of its results and achievements, including collecting multimedia and project stories from the field.
- Write, review, and edit copy for various audiences (external, internal) and communications channels, including digital, social, and media engagement, shaping the Fund's external messaging and developing its corporate voice.
- Advanced university degree in international relations, economics, journalism, communications, etc., or Bachelor's degree plus two (2) additional years of experience.
- At least 9 years of relevant international communications experience and a proven track record of good political judgement, discretion, and strong engagement with media and/or stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain relationships with key partners.
- Experience in working with colleagues from different functions and cultures and solid interpersonal skills.
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English (native level), as well as oral communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages a plus.
