HauptaufgabenAs a Dental Assistant (Periodontics), serves as the sole assistant to the Periodontic Dental Specialist in a variety of complex periodontic dental procedures to include, but not limited to gingival flap surgery including scaling root planing, apically positioned flap, clinical crown lengthening, osseous surgery, bone replacement grafts, guided tissue regeneration, guided bone regeneration, soft tissue grafts, soft tissue allografts, distal and proximal wedge, full mouth debridement, local delivery of chemotherapeutic agents, and implant dentistry. This assistant provides chair side assistance in the clinic and hospital operation room, as needed. May also perform dental hygiene tasks under immediate supervision of dental officer. Such tasks may include removal of calculus deposits, accretions and stains from surface of teeth; and administration of prophylaxis treatment. Works routinely with the management and treatment of severe periodontitis and partially and fully edentulous patients by performing such duties as seating patients, adjusting chair, draping patients, arranging records and x-rays, making models, and maintaining instruments for doctors to efficiently treat the patient. Makes comprehensive periodontal records for each patients, to include maxillary and mandibular alginate impressions, clinical photographs, operates the dental x-ray equipment to take routine and specialty required intraoral and extraoral radiographs including periapical, bitewings, and panographic radiographs. Works daily with computers for correspondence, scheduling patients, printing and managing daily work schedules, checking for DEERS(Defense Enrollment Reporting System) eligibility, checking enrollment in Family Member Dental Insurance Plan, inputting date to CDA (Corporate Dental Application), and other data bases. Prepares and maintains various records and reports. This is an essential task for efficient, quality patient care, workload reporting and clinic management. Perform other duties as assigned.
