Our team of experts works closely with governments, communities, and civil society to support countries in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
">Role Overview
">We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and support on institutional matters, including governance framework, human resources, intellectual property, privileges and immunities, and contractual arrangements. This role requires excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as experience working in a fast-paced international environment.
">Responsibilities
">- Assist the Associate General Counsel in implementing the Fund's strategy on privileges & immunities, and negotiating international agreements;
- Manage litigation, including drafting pleadings before internal bodies and external tribunals;
- Keep abreast of developments in the legal field, particularly in relation to international administrative law and climate finance;
- Provide legal support to other divisions on matters relating to institutional and governance issues;
- Participate in the Fund's Board meetings and other events, as required.
Requirements
">- Juris Doctor, LLB, or equivalent law degree;
- Qualification to practice law in at least one jurisdiction;
- At least 9 years of relevant work experience practicing public international law, including international administrative law;
- Solid legal drafting skills and experience working on development finance and climate finance;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
- Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
