HauptaufgabenServes as Transportation Assistant, responsible for performing a variety of clerical work involved in the processing, storage, shipment, and disposition of incoming household goods in accordance with applicable rules, procedures and regulations. Receives, reviews and processes a variety of applications and supporting documents submitted for shipment of incoming household goods checking and verifying for the agreement and presence of all pertinent information, data and justifications. Ensures that all required entries have been properly made and that clerical errors are readily directed and corrected through the media of interviewing or clarifying and obtaining additional information needed from applicants concerned; provides assistance and guidance filling out of application forms as required and checks for the presence of Special Orders, Customs Forms, and Air Freight Authorizations, etc. Plans, determines and coordinates transportation requirements, considering the type and quantity of baggage, weight, destination, and other related factors to effect timely, efficient and economical means of shipment; controls mode of shipment, determining whether or not items received are to be shipped through Air Freight, Air Parcel Post, Surface Parcel Post, Military Surface, and commercial Surface, etc., on the basis of size and weight of shipment and upon allocations and CIC numbers on Special Orders. Performs other duties as assigned.
