The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world's largest dedicated multilateral climate fund, investing in impactful and innovative programs and projects in developing countries.
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Officer to join our team in the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean.
About the RoleThe Project Officer will be responsible for undertaking a range of analytical and operational responsibilities to support the delivery of country engagement and origination of projects, project review, and board approval processes. This includes identifying and guiding readiness programmes that strengthen country contexts, generating transformational pipelines, and building capacities to accelerate and sustain ambitious climate action.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide analysis in support of pipeline development and technical review of projects/programmes funding proposals and concept notes
- Apply the Fund's investment criteria and other policies and guidance in the review of funding proposals and concept notes
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the review of proposals and post-approval process
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in economics, environmental sciences, finance, sustainable development, project management, or a related field
- At least four years of relevant work experience in project management, including design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
- Experience in supporting legal arrangements and coordination roles in post-approval arrangements
- Relevant experience in international settings, preferably in climate finance or developing climate finance projects in developing countries
- Unquestionable integrity and adherence to the highest ethical standards
- Excellent business writing and presentation skills
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish is preferred but not required
